About Janice
I am a unifier, and we need unifiers in a world where people are not listening or respecting the opinion of opposing views. I have both state and regional experience and have a balanced perspective when reviewing issues. I have proven leadership skills. I listen, and always try to solve problems. I ask the right questions so we can find the right solutions.
During my fourteen years as Mayor, my leadership has been ever evolving, and I am always learning. I have dealt with a variety of challenges including fires, floods, the great recession, PSPS (public safety power shutoffs), public safety concerns, (we are the 3rd safest city in California, and this is our third year of being 3rd safest city). We are the safest city in Ventura County and that doesn't happen without supportive leadership (according to our Police Chief). I have also worked hard to preserve open space to maintain our rural nature and our quality of life.
My Priorities
Public Safety
Moorpark is the third safest city in the State of California. I want to keep it that way, by continuing to support our exceptional public safety officials.
Economic Development & Housing
We need to cultivate a strong, local workforce to promote business retention and attraction, streamline processes and reduce red tape.
Homelessness & Mental Health
I plan to push for early identification and appropriate treatment so we can stop the revolving door of our current system.
Protect our Veterans
I'm a big supporter of our vets. My goals are to increase services for Veterans and advocate for a Veteran's hospital in Ventura County.
